Being a point of historical reference for the continuous and quality education, research and development it offers to Greek society, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens has created the DEPARTMENT OF DIGITAL INDUSTRY TECHNOLOGIES (DIND), as an intervention towards the 4th industrial revolution, known as Industry 4.0. The 4th industrial revolution aims at the coexistence and interaction of man and machine, in a unified physical, digital and biological world with indiscernible boundaries. The Department targets to become a reference point in Greece and abroad in the area of Industry 4.0, centered on the collaboration of man and machine with intelligent technologies and the digital transformation of industry. The Department offers a modern education background in technologies concerning the following areas:

• IT and telecommunications emphasizing on data management and analysis [big data, (industrial) internet of things, internet].
• Automation (robotics, automatic control, cyber-physical systems, 3D printing, drones).

• Interface of intelligent systems (broadband networks, IoT, 5G/6G, cloud computing).
• Human and cyber-physical systems interface
• Techno-economic analysis combined with methods and information management systems, decision-making and support, focusing on modern, digital industry and its management.

The Digital Industry Technologies Department of NKUA is recognized by the Hellenic Republic as a Computer Science Department (PD 85/17-12-2022).
